The Water Treatment Plant Project continues.  The DNR requires many steps to ensure the quality of the water for the citizens.  In order for the City to fund this project and be qualified for a low interest loan, our water rates must be at a determined amount. To begin this, the City Council has approved a $7 monthly service fee on all water meters beginning April 1.  The water rates will increase beginning January 2013.  Increases are always difficult for the Council to approve.  However, they will do their best to keep them at a minimum compared to the cost of the project.  They encourage you to attend meetings to better understand this project.
